Sustainability. AWS is determined to make the cloud the cleanest and the most energy-efficient way to run all our customers’ infrastructure and business. To help do this, Amazon is committed to reaching net-zero carbon emissions by 2040 as part of The Climate Pledge – 10 years ahead of The Paris Agreement.
We’re making progress toward net-zero carbon through innovations and investments to eliminate emissions within the value chain of our business, as well as driving meaningful and necessary actions outside our value chain through nature-based solutions. This is inclusive of re:Inforce 2024. For more information on these actions toward net-zero carbon, please visit About Amazon and our AWS Sustainability page.
Event sustainability starts during the planning process. Here are the things we’re doing behind the scenes to make a more sustainable re:Inforce:
- Diverting and redirecting waste from landfills by reducing, reusing, recycling, or composting event waste
- Donating unserved food and materials to local non-profit organizations
- Reducing the use of single-use plastics by implementing programs such as Hydrate and Help
- Planning menus with sustainability in mind, including plant-based options and no beef
- Using environmentally preferable building and signage materials, such as reusable or recyclable items
- Identifying impact areas to conserve and de-carbonize business operations through waste, carbon, energy and water reductions, year-over-year
- Investing in actions outside of the event to reduce and remove carbon from the atmosphere through nature-based and technological solutions
