Overview
  • Event sustainability starts during the planning process

Here are some things we’re doing behind the scenes to make a more sustainable re:Inforce: food and material waste reduction; waste diversion through recycling, composting, and donating leftover food and materials to support local communities; encouraging reuse by implementing programs such as Hydrate and Help; providing non-beef protein options and sustainable menu planning inclusive of plant-forward menu options; using environmentally preferable build and signage materials; reducing food waste by not over-ordering food; and tracking direct impacts of the event, including waste, carbon, energy, and water.

Here’s a few ways to participate:

Learning hub
    • Reduce food waste. Reduce food waste by taking just what you'll eat. Going back for seconds is always an option.
    • Reduce and reuse. Our programs are designed to reduce the amount of materials we use, and to divert as much as possible from the landfills. Join in by selecting reusable service ware for meals vs. disposables, where available.
    • Compost more. Help us divert our waste from landfill by putting compostable service ware and leftover food in the composting bins.
    • Waste sorting. Help us sort waste correctly. Did you know that according to a study conducted by the UK’s Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs (Defra), recycled waste emits 27 times fewer emissions, and food compost emits 61 times fewer emissions than in the landfill? We know waste sorting can be confusing, so we’ve implemented a secondary waste sorting program that will ensure the fewest items go to landfill as possible.
    • Donate. Have SWAG that won’t fit in your luggage? Donation bins will be placed near exits at re:Inforce. Simply place your SWAG in these bins, and it will be donated to local nonprofit organizations.
